Assalamu Alaykum...

First of all, i wanted to say that the last Artist I featured (Hassan Massoudy) is holding an Exhibition in Dubai...thought you might like to go (there are alot of Iraqis in the U.A.E).

It goes from 1st to 31th July 2008, Hunart Gallery, Rashidiya, Dubai, UAE.

For all enquiries: hunarart@emirates.net.ae or 00 971 50 451 88 77

Thats the only info on his website [link] . Yes, only 4 days left! I only found out now -_-

-------------------------------------------------------
And second, behold the great artist -

Name: Ihsan Al-khateeb
Born in: Baghdad, 1949

Summary: (Well it's extremely hard to find info on Iraqi artists..but i found a few things).

Ihsan studied in Baghdad, and received his Bachelor of fine arts in 1973. Later he completed Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts (2001) & Master of Fine Arts (2003) in the University of Auckland, New Zealand. (anyone see him there? i didn't ).
Throughout his 25 years of experience, Ihsan held many exhibitions and recieved many awards. You can check them all here [link] . I think he now lived in the UAE ..anyway, check out the rest of his drawing on his website [link]

Not only did I see him there, I had the privilege of producing the catalogue for the exhibition that "The indefinite" was shown at. It's actually number 6 (the last) in the series.

My prized possession is the original of number 3 in the series, "The exodus", which Ihsan gifted to me with the words "From one artist to another". That made me feel immensely proud and very, very humble.

Simon.

Oh yes, and his PGDipA was in 2000, not 2001.
